What's the problem?
Giraffes are being murdered for pointless and horrible reasons, what are they and why?
You can’t fight with cultural customs but is killing a one ton mammal for their tails worth it? Is taking the tail of an innocent giraffe really necessary to make such useless items such as bracelets and necklaces, leaving the rest of the caucus to rot and leaving the rest of the herd of giraffes in grief? No, so why should a giraffe suffer for fashion? |
The giraffe’s main
predators are lions, crocodiles but the most deadly are humans. Adult
giraffes have rare fatalities due to other animals, where calves are
vulnerable. The main cause of death amongst adult giraffes are
humans, followed natural causes. Giraffes are easy to hunt as their
only defence is their strong hind legs and necks which are used to
fight off other male giraffes or lions. Sadly, these tactics useless
against humans with their guns and firearms.
Would you pay $20,000 to shoot a giraffe? People are. Hunting giraffes for entertainment is a new ‘sport’. People from all parts of the world have flown to the African plains to hunt and shoot giraffes for ridiculous amounts of money. Men, woman and whole families with small children have already booked into giraffe hunting troupes to kill one of these magnificent creatures. The giraffe hunting troupes work by “trained experts” taking families that have paid thousands to hunt an animal that isn’t a hard target, kill the gentle giants, take a photo and leave the caucus there to rot and to attract other predators which are also then hunted. This is not the proper way to hunt. Hunting an animal isn’t supposed to be about the killing but also how you preserve the remains, there is a huge doubt the parents showed the child in the photo above how to skin and clean the kill. How to people get joy out of killing such a beautiful animal? How is this a fun family adventure?
